ʻAiea Intermediate Summer Enrichment Camps

 
Programming Schedule Dates:
Week 1: June 10-14 (no programming June 11)
Week 2: June 17-21
Week 3: June 24-28

Student may attend up to 2 weeks of programming
Time: 8:30am-12:00pm
Location: ʻAiea Intermediate School (99-600 Kulawea Street, Aiea, HI 97601)
Cost: Free

We hope to provide FREE meals during our camps but are awaiting confirmation from the HIDOE. If this is approved Breakfast will be served from 8:00-8:30am and Lunch from 12:00pm-12:30pm.
 
Transportation to ʻAiea Intermediate is not included. We ask that students are not dropped off before 8:00am and picked up no later than 12:30pm.
 
Camp Descriptions: Students may attend 1 option in a week.
Week 1
June
10-14
Option 1: Hawaiian Games
Spend a week playing different Hawaiian games like running games, field games, ring games, and team games. Students will be utilizing the field and implements to set up the games to play..
Option 2: Robotics
Get a taste for STEM and Robotics at AIS! Students will work in teams to build a robot, test it, and then improve it to compete in a mini sumo challenge at the end of the week.
Week 2
June
17-21
Option 1: Makahiki Game Building
Students will be working on making some of the implements for next year's Makahiki at ʻAiea Intermediate School. Students will be utilizing a lathe to shape a moa pāheʻe and sanding and oiling to make ʻulumaika.
Option 2: Dance
Learn different styles of dance, from hip hop to jazz to popping. We will work on developing body awareness, body control, rhythm, and timing. No experience necessary!
Week 3
June
24-28
Option 1: Mixed Sports
Students should be prepared to participate in a variety of sports activities. These activities include but are not limited to soccer, basketball, speedball/ultimate frisbee, and weight lifting. No special equipment needed but it is highly suggested to have shoes and dress for warm weather. Bringing a water bottle/jug is also highly recommended.
Option 2: E-Sports (Nintendo)
Students will help to build the new Esports program at AIS! The week will be spent perfecting their skills in Mario Kart and Super Smash Bros, learning game theory and other benefits to playing Esports. All necessary game equipment will be provided!
 
Registration is due by Wednesday May 22, 2024 or until all camps are full!
